Originally from Sindhupalchowk district near Kathmandu, Kamala has excelled as river guide. She was 11 when she followed her passion towards adventurous activities and learned swimming and paddling. Soon she learned how to paddle, juggle and do circus tricks. She had to struggle for work in Kathmandu valley but she always wanted to follow her dreams and turn it into reality.
There was no turning back when she joined Himalayan Adventure Girls and became acquainted with Sita along some of the other members of the “ladies kayak club”. After the receiving training from Himalayan Adventure Girls, Kamala worked for a rafting company where she learned the skills of the trade and became a guide in training. With all her years of experience, Kamala joined the Himalayan Adventure Girls team to start the first all-women adventure guiding company.
Kamala is motivated by her will to learn and desire to gain new experiences. She has recently acquired her trekking guide license and is quickly developing her skills in that domain as well. Kamala is a very positive person with an easy laugh and who loves everything, but especially rivers, mountains and nature.
